We LOVE Beer

11/07/2023

Description text

We love our Beers and Real Ales at The Crofter's rest, and Scotland has an array of breweries! We're lucky enough to be sat on the doorstep of some of the Highlands fabulous independent breweries.

Here's some of what we have on offer:

Isle Of Eigg Brewery

Situated on the Isle Of Eigg, off the west coast of Scotland, is the countries first cooperative brewery. It was set up in 2020 by Stu McCarthy & Ben Cormack and then literally built from the ground up with the Island’s help after a hugely successful crowdfund, the brewery makes beer for social good, and probably the most environmentally-friendly craft brewery in the world! "We’re intent on exploring beer in as many forms as we can. We’re currently brewing pilsners and IPAs, with the back end of this summer adding hefeweizen and Kolsch-style beers. And then! A trip to Belgium and some of its provenance will be making its way to the West of Scotland."

We currently stock their Pilsner and IPA on draft, and they're both outstanding.

Cromarty Brewing Co.

The Cromarty Brewing Co is an independent and family run craft brewery, based in the Highlands of Scotland. Established in 2011, the family are now supported by a small, elite team to produce great beer. It started in a basement! Craig studied the science of brewing at Heriot Watt University, and after finishing the course with a 1st class degree he went on to do some work in various breweries to gain valuable experience. He then went on and applied for grants, got some scary bank loans and managed to get his folks Chap and Jenni in on the deal.

We stock a variety of their real ales on rotation, including Happy Chappy, Hit The Lip, Kowabunga, Red Rocker & Whiteout.

Glen Spean Brewing Co.

Glen Spean Brewing Co is based in a historic steading in the village of Spean Bridge at the heart of the West Highlands, where neighbours Ian Peter, James and Lucy have faithfully converted a mid-19th century steading from where they make their beautifully crafted beers. With a combination of fresh local water, single origin malted Scottish grain and quality malted English Grain they created the perfect recipe for their beers. In 2019, they snagged the award for the Best Beer in the Highlands at the Highlands & Islands food & drink awards.

We currently stock Snowgoose Craft Lager and we have Highbridge IPA and Red Revival on rotation
