Autumn in Arisaig: What's Going On

02/10/2021

Description text

Having loved every glorious second of one of the sunniest summers Arisaig has experienced in years, it’s safe to say that we were all left in shock by the sudden arrival of winter.  Yes, we know it is still officially autumn, but you could have fooled us!  Wood-burners stoked.  Whisky shelves stocked.  Until next year, summer.

Reaching for some positives, who doesn’t love a good storm?  Plus, there’s been some seriously good local rainbow photography!  Also, all of this crazy weather could mean that we’re in for a gorgeously still and settled spell, and finally, the wintry weather has inspired us to look ahead and write this blog on what’s going on in Arisaig over the next couple of months.  So, here’s what’s in the pipeline:

OPENING TIMES

The Crofter’s Rest, Hotel & Bunkhouse will be open as usual until Thursday 28th October 2021 and will re-open on Friday 18th March 2022:

Bar:  Monday – Saturday (4pm – close) & Sunday (12pm – close)

Although the hotel will close on 28th October, the bunkhouse & bar will remain open for business all winter.  Many of the area’s guesthouses, self-catering cottages and hotels remain open over the winter months and we urge visitors to come and enjoy Arisaig out of season - no midges, northern lights, cosy nights – what’s not to love?  We will also be hosting numerous events throughout the winter months so keep your eyes peeled on our social media pages.

SPECIAL OFFER

Throughout October, we are offering a brilliant Buy Two, Get A Third Night Free offer so if you were considering visiting the area this month, why not take advantage of this great deal?

LIVE MUSIC

As ever, the next couple of months will be jam-packed with amazing live music.  Our popular music sessions will continue as usual on Friday nights from 7pm (all winter) and Sunday afternoons from 1pm (until 31st October).  As well as the music sessions, we’re also excited to welcome the following music events to the village:

7th October:  Breabach (Astley Hall)

9th October:  The East Pointers

29th, 30th & 31st October:  School of Daimh (just two rooms left so get in touch asap if you’d like one)

4th December:  Hannah Fisher & Sorren Maclean

18th December:  Niteworks at Glenuig Hall

28th & 29th December:  Feis na Mara Fundraiser

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

The arrival of the colder weather makes the majority of us get a serious dose of the hungries, so we’ve put together some culinary events to tempt you out of hibernation:

Until 28th October our bar menu will be available from  6pm – 8pm every evening.  Please book your table in advance to avoid disappointment.

Steak Saturdays:  Enjoy a juicy steak with all the trimmings every second Saturday (from 6th November).

Friday 12th November:  Winter Sunshine.  This celebration of vegetarianism will offer five locally sourced courses with influences from all around the world.  More details to follow, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for further information.

PUB QUIZ

It's time to test your trivia because our winter pub quiz is back with a vengeance, so come on down to the Crofter's Rest every second Sunday at 7pm from 14th November.  Remember to BRING YOUR A-GAME!

LITERARY LOVERS

It might not be happening in Arisaig, but we highly recommend heading along to the West Highland Hotel in Mallaig on the weekend of 12th November to check out the area's very own Book Festival, A Write Highland Hoolie!  The weekend is packed with talks, events and readings from some of the UK's legends of literature.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES

Nobody wants to think about the C-word in October, but if your circle of friends, family or workmates are on the lookout for a fantastic Christmas night out with amazing food this December, the Arisaig Hotel is where it’s at!  We will be offering two Christmas party weekends (3rd/4th December & 17th/18th December) where you can eat, drink and be merry!

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL

After the success of last year’s Christmas Festival, we have decided to forge ahead and go bigger and better this year, so wrap up warm and join us on Saturday 11th December from 4.30pm.  There’ll be gift shopping, live music, Christmas lights switch on, Santa Claus will be attending and Chris & Audrey will be parking their super-cool vintage pizza van amidst the stalls and serving up piping hot wood-fired pizzas.  Mulled wine & hot chocolate will be served and the bar will be open for all other drinks.

If you would like a stall (£5), please get in touch.
